Kronplatz – Plan de Corones overview

14 villages situated in the heart of the "Pustertal" provide a quiet attractive holiday arrangement. These are Bruneck/Percha, San Vigilio di Marebbe, Olang, St. Lorenzen, Gsies – Welsberg – Taisten, Pfalzen, Rasen, Kiens, Terenten, Antholzertal, Gais-Uttenheim and San Martino in Badia. In the Kronplatz area everybody can find that particular holiday atmosphere he is looking for, quiet places for those who want to be the own and get away of the venal stressing continue of city life.

Unlimited possibilities are provided to those who are looking for the unspoilt nature, those who want to get in touch with the friendly local people and who would like to collect new impressions to take home, to those who are always ready to taste and appreciate good food, to the lazy holidaymakers who are just looking for tranquillity. Also to sportsmen active holidays and adventure can be provided: even the lovers of fine arts who want to search through the milestones of history will be pleased to discover this area; the lovers of handcraft, who are looking for handmade tablecloth, pottery, wood carved figures, etc. may have a large choice and last but not least endless variety of shopping occasions are provided to those people who like to spend most of their time strolling around from shop to shop. Surely you like doing it too!

Let’s have a look at numbers. The Pustertal valley covers an area of 2,071 sq km. This is about 28% of South Tyrol. About 68,000 people live here. Only 25% of that area is at an altitude between 500 and 1,000 m. More than half of it is situated between 1,000 und 2,000 m, the rest above. That means: rarely no bottom, lots of hill-sides, lots of woods (green valleys and good air), mountains and glaciers.

The highest mountain is the Hochfeiler (3,056 m) in the Zillertal valley; the most famous one is the Kronplatz. Agriculture, crafts, trade and tourism have had a great input on labour. Lots of the rural tradition has been held up. The farms of the Pustertal valley consist of a separate farmstead and a barn or have both combined within one building. Quite a few big farmhouses with traditional ovens reach out of the woods and look down the sunny sides to the valley greeting people going by. The mountains make the valley so attractive. The Dolomites on the one side, the Alps on the other. All you can see are hills, rocks and woods. Romantic and sunny plateaus, an unexpected turn within the various paths, small hamlets, picturesque castles, venerable churches and chapels and everything else modern people need surround you. Find exquisite cuisine, tennis courts, baths, riding stalls, walking and running paths, fitness studios, shooting stands, miniature golf, climbing parks, bocce lanes and lots more.

A wide variety of accommodations is available to the tourist, starting with the simple pension or a flat to rent, the middle class hotel up to the first-class hotel.

You will soon realise that in South Tyrol "hospitality" is not only a publicity slogan.

In our previous lives, we built sophisticated web sites for companies. We love building web sites. We love our dogs. We are dorks. Our closest friends are imaginary. We also love skiing and snowboarding. By combining two of our passions, we have put together the ultimate ski reporting web site. Imagine if King Kong and Godzilla had a child. That's what we want SkiReports.com to be.
